In 1990, the Lao government decided to build a cement plant at all costs. The primary purpose was to reduce Laos’ dependence on imported high-priced cement.
In order to build the first cement plant in Laos, the Lao government actively sought cooperation with China. In November 1994, the first cement plant in Vangrong, Laos was completed and began to produce Jinniu brand cement. As a result, Laos finally had its first national cement brand, opening up a new situation for the development of heavy industry. This cement plant became an important milestone in the beginning of China-Laos economic cooperation.
